This guides offers troubleshooting help for Yahoomail users who experience troubles signing in to Yahoo Mail. Yahoomail is one of the largest email providers, and it is only natural that some users experience problems with the Yahoo Mail login. These problems can be broken down into the following groups:
- The Yahoo Mail homepage is not loading, a blank page is displayed or an error message appears on the Yahoomail sign in page.
- The email of the user or the password are not accepted by Yahoo Mail
- The user has forgotten the email or password and cannot log in because of the missing data
- A hacker has compromised the account so that the user cannot sign into Yahoo Mail
We will take a look at all possible scenarios, and offer guidance so that users can resolve the log in issues and sign in again into Yahoo to access their emails. Here is a screenshot of the official Yahoo Mail Signin:
Case 1: Yahoo Mail Signin Page is not loading / Yahoo Mail Login Page is not loading
This issue is the easiest to resolve, even though it may not look like it. It will resolve the issue if the Yahoomail signin page is not loading, if an error message is displayed or if a blank page is displayed.
Web browser store information from websites that are accessed in a local cache. It can happen that the data in the cache becomes corrupt, causing loading errors. The first thing we need to do to try and resolve the log in issues is to clear the web browser cache. We have explained how this is done in our web browser maintenance guide.
Reload the Yahoo Mail Signin page to see if it has resolved the issue. Best practice is to close the current Yahoo Mail Login tab and open a blank new tab. Enter the following address manually in the web browser’s address bar and hit enter on the keyboard afterwards: strong>https://mail.yahoo.com/
The issue is resolved if the page is loading this time. It may happen that the Yahoomail Signin page is not loading even after the browser cache has been cleared.
The next best option to resolve the issue is to try signing in with another web browser. Here are links to popular web browsers that can be used to sign in to Yahoo Mail:
If the Yahoo Mail Login page is still not displaying correctly after trying a different web browser, it may help to try a different computer. Just make sure you use the the necessary precautions if you open the Yahoo Mail login from a public or third party computer systems. As a rule of thumb: Always use the address https://mail.yahoo.com/ to sign into Yahoo Mail, and make sure you log off after you have finished your business. This ensures that the next person on the computer can not open your Yahoo Mail Inbox and read your emails.
Case 2: You have forgotten / lost your Yahoo Mail Signin Password
It can happen to anyone, yesterday you were able to sign in to Yahoo Mail with your password and Yahoo.com email address, and today that very same password is not accepted anymore. Assuming that there is no foul play involved (like a hacker who managed to get into your Yahoo Mail account), it is likely that you are entering the wrong password. It can happen to all of us. First thing that you should check is that you are on the right page, the right Yahoo Mail Signin page. Phishing sites imitate popular
sites to lure users into their trap, and you do not want to hand them your login information, right?
If you are on the Yahoomail Login page you may want to make sure that the Caps Lock key is not pressed. When the key is activated all lower case characters on the keyboard are typed in upper case. To test that this is not the case type a key into the Yahoo! Id signin field.
Now that we have established that it is not a local problem, we have to assume that the password is not accepted. It does not really matter why, just that it is not working anymore. Your only option is to reset the password. Click the I can’t access my account link on the Yahoo Mail Signing page. This leads to a wizard where you select I forgot my password or My password doesn’t work.
For that to work, you do need your Yahoo! ID which is usually your email address ending with @yahoo.com.
Just follow the wizard. Be aware that you need to enter the answer to your secret question during the wizard to reset your Yahoo Mail password.
If you forgot your password, you can create a new one. But first you’ll have to provide the following information so we can confirm your identity:
Your Yahoo! ID
Alternate email address, mobile phone number, or the answers to your secret questions
Case 3: You forgot your Yahoo! ID Email
You can recover your Yahoo Mail ID in the same wizard that you can use to recover the email password. Only this time you have to enter other information, like your birthday or zip.
If you forgot your Yahoo! ID, you need to provide three pieces of information so we can confirm your identity:
Your ZIP or postal code (at the time you created your Yahoo! account or when you last updated it)
Your alternate email address -Note: You must have access to this email address
Country code (at the time you created your Yahoo! account or when you last updated it)
Case 4: The account has been compromised
The wizard helps Yahoo Mail users if their account has been compromised. This opens the very same dialog that is used to recover the mail password.
General Yahoomail Signin Tips
The URL (Web Address) for all legitimate Yahoo! pages that ask you for your Yahoo! ID and/or Password will begin with https://login.yahoo.com. Look for your Sign-In Seal or the message Protect Your Account to create a Sign-In Seal. A Sign-In Seal is a secret message or image that you can load to your computer so you’ll know you’re on a legitimate Yahoo! Site.
The guide should help Yahoo users who experience sign in problems at the Yahoo mail Login page. It offers help when users cannot open the Yahoo Mail page, when they have forgotten their password or ID, or when their account is compromised.
